Rice Island

Geography

The twelve city-ships of Vramcharp have established a pact which grants them equal territory on a vast island (vast, being on Vramcharp, around the combined size of Iceland and a pair of New Caledonias), with arable countryside rich with nitrates, cut with cascading terraces filled to the brim with grain crops such as rice and millet. Eponymously, this island is known as Rice Island, and is perhaps the most earth-like locale on the entire planet, inhabited by ordinary agrarian peoples living ordinary agrarian lives - there are twelve territories demarcated by a series of stone markers. Each territory is owned by one of the city-ships, and is granted semi-autonomy, though they must give a tribute to the city-ship which rules them. Compared to the city-ships they are technologically backwards, thus they cannot rebel and procure full autonomy.   The island is humid and temperate and a rather unintimidating place, without pernicious beasts. The soil is very deep and stone outcrops are rare, though there are several small plateaus. Torrential rainfall is common and must be channelled through a sophisticated irrigation network. Winds are rather mild on predominately-flat Vramcharp, so attap-roofed houses are built on stilts. Primitivity still prevails, especially in the manners of its inhabitants, which are very antiquated and backwards compared to their long-sundered cousins living on the city-ships. They are of a very different culture, animistic and superstitious, though appropriating some aspects of their cousins here and there.

Natural Resources

Every sort of edible resource you can think of that can grow in the tropics, but no wheat or oats unfortunately. There are cattle, pigs, sheep, goats but no chickens, protoceratops, cacops, also daeodons and aurochs.   The lumber of Rice Island includes many varieties of palm trees of various sizes, also there are baobab trees.
