NPCs of Interest in Raven's Rock Keep

Alphabetical by usual name, in bold. Minor characters, children names, spouse names etc are indicated by bold italics.
Amanara Foal: A stout dwarven cleric employed as the Scribe of the Castellan. She fears for her son, who has fallen into a strange bat-cult from which she can't seem to sway him. She blames her own weakness of faith in Danu, the earth-god, for failing to inspire him to the better path. Married to Corbett Foal, who works in the Upper Bailey armory with Orn Faroun. Mother of Godwin Foal.   Arbegas: Young actor, member of the Zeffirelli Collective that the party rescued from the Camazotl cultists in the temple of Dendar's Fang in the Caves of Chaos.   Austice: Farmer, found petrified in a cage in the Camazotl cult temple.   Barrett Salterson: [Deceased] One of Parson Agrippa's two acolytes. He's a tall, formerly good-looking human male, found dismembered on the road.   Bershaba: Bank administrator who facilitated the purchase of the townhouse at 11 Fountain Avenue.   Doctor Caledia Tesh: High elven proprietor of the Outfitter and Provisioner shop at #9 which sells more or less all the equipment and mundane items of the PHB other than weapons, mounts and armor. Caledia loves to hear stories of adventure and lives vicariously through her customers' adventures. She has healing potions, healer's kits, and mundane magic components as well. Caledia is an adequate healer, and a better businesswoman than fighter. She's far too timid to accompany adventurers. She can patch up injuries when they return to the safety of the Keep, however.   Captain Varla Carford, Bailiff: One of several high-ranking soldiers at the keep, and the one most actively recruiting adventurers. Like the Castellan, she is a retired adventurer.   Castellan Major Jules Merula, (CAS-tell-in): The chief administrator and appointed governor of Raven's Rock Keep, a defensive outpost and garrison on the High Trade Road at the eastern edge of the Realm. He is a powerful man, but not himself a member of the nobility; he answers to Baroness Marjoleine of the Eastern Border Marches, but her presence is so distant from here that most people don't even know her name. instead, they know and recognize Castellan Merula as the authority in the region. Merula is an aging warrior and ex-adventurer himself, and has compelled his captains and lieutenants to recruit adventurers to help settle the surrounding wildlands and protect the fortress. Married to Elsinore Merula-Calumet.   Confidence Carlysle: A frequent gambler at the Silver Spade Inn, evidently with some connections to underworld players in the region and likely able to fence stolen goods or secure buyers for less than legal items and other transactions. Xi Shi's friend from the way back. Her real name is Lola, but only soon-to-be dead people call her that.   Falco Nixon: Aarakocra owner of the Buy-Sell-Trade shop at #10. Shrewd and well-traveled, Falco is very good at giving accurate list prices and can work both ends of almost any deal. His shop contains a fair amount of used adventurer gear, traded weapons and even a few magic items, and he can arrange buyers of more exotic finds and can source uncommon and rare magic items, though at a 25% overage (a bird has to make his cut, after all). Falco employs a pair of hobgoblin appraisers who double as heavyweight in case someone gets rowdy or tries to make off with any merchandise, as well as his two adult sons Trel and Kes Nixon.   Galapple Dors: Furniture maker and merchant rescued from the Temple of Dendar's Fang in the Caves of Chaos. He runs his business out of the guild house. He is married to a matronly woman named Helena Dors who sells pastries and baked goods at the Guild house.   Godwin Foal: [Deceased] One of Parson Agrippa's two acolytes. He's a wiry young Dwarf with unfortunate acne who attacked the party in Naphan's townhouse and perished in the attempt. Son of Amanara Foal, the Castellan's Clerical Scribe.   Icies Veiss: Dwarven Jewel Merchant who has leased space in 7a for himself and his wife for the rest of the season, and may renew if business remains good. Icies also maintains a supply of spell component gems including various pearls and small diamonds. He also employs a pair of plate-mail armored goliaths, each of which commands a huge well-trained war dog, dissuading all but the most committed (or most stupid) of would-be thieves. Wife is an Owlin named Philomena.   Kador, Captain of the Guard: Blue Dragonborn veteran soldier and ranking officer of the upper bailey, second in command after Major Merula. Kador is a kind, patient and friendly man armed and armored like a fkn tank. He's good friends with his fellow captains Dougal (Captain of the watch) and Captain Carford (Captain of the lower bailey) but he maintains a strict discipline and brooks no shenanigans when it comes to the execution of his duty (or the execution of guilty prisoners).   Sergeant Malus Tecto: Aasimar Sergeant of the guard in the upper bailey, commanding 48 guards - 2 squads of 18 archers and 6 elite melee fighters, positioned on the walls at all times, half-on shift while the others are off. He can also draw an additional 24 guards in reserve, and given 20 minutes can reconfigure the group's split between ranged and melee attack. During daylight hours there will also be an additional 12 soldiers drilling in the Inner bailey yard. After dark, there will instead be 6 additional guards added to the watch in both the upper and the lower bailey.   Parson Naphan Agrippa: [Deceased] A jovial half-elf priest of the Voiceless God travelling the borderlands to discuss theology with the learned folk and to educate those less learned. He has a burning curiosity about the various stories about an abandoned temple somewhere in the caves to the NE. He travels with two acolytes who have taken vows of silence and charity, though they are able to communicate by written word.   Orn Faroun: Immigrant human from the sands of the east with elaborately plaited hair, a pretty face, and a confident mastery of armor and weapon materials and design, operating the Armory in the upper bailey. Talented at working natural materials like bone and scale into armor, and given time can create all manner of custom weapon and armor designs, despite missing the ring and pinky finger on his right hand. Husband of Naijiphe Faroun, seamstress, who runs a shop out of the Guild House.   Montague Ford: Owner and chief barkeep at the Silver Spade, the tavern on the west side of the Lower Bailey. An early middle-aged human male with a quick wit, pretty eyes, long brown hair in ringlets and a charming demeanor, Ford is the keep's most eligible bachelor and a very popular figure in town. The tavern has a larger-than-expected stage area with a small backstage, and from time to time the Zeffirelli youth troupe puts on a play for the entertainment of the locals, with Montague playing the part of the prologue-giver. Montague is Pippa's older brother; she operates the Inn connected to the Silver Spade Tavern.   Serene Mistress Alba Filorine: Priestess and Curate at the Keep's Chapel on the northern end of the Lower Bailey. Alba Filorene is one of the most influential people at the keep besides the Castellan. The Serene Mistress maintains the chapel and shepherds the spiritual lives of the civilians and military personnel at the Keep. She is an older Aasimar woman full of life and vigor, with a ruddy face lined and weathered by years of hard work and hair turned silver and white. She has three attendant acolytes that maintain the shrines to the principal deities in the chapel. All of them are often seen around town providing charitable help. The Chapel has an extensive undercroft used for storage and can double as a last-ditch shelter for the people of the lower bailey in a time of dire need.   Severina Shazgob: This muscular young half-orc woman is the resident smith at #8, armorer and mechanic of the civilian portion of the Keep, along with her two assistants. The Smithy opens at 7 every morning and the clanging and banging sometimes goes deep into the night, except for Temple Day when they close up in the afternoon. Severina is good friends with Dougal Kutso and Orn Faroun, the weaponsmith and armorer for the military portion of the Keep.   Watch Captain Dougal Kutso: Powerfully-built middle-aged Dwarven male, the weapons-master and shift-manager of the Keep's upper bailey. Masterwork smith, but always wants to have his shirt off - even indoors at dinner. Montague is Pippa Ford's older brother; she operates the Inn connected to the Silver Spade Tavern.   Pippa Ford: Owner of the Silver Spade Traveler's Inn that is connected to but independent from the Silver Spade Tavern. Pippa is a well-seasoned and no-nonsense woman who doesn't take to any kind of shenanigans in her lodgings. She is Montague Ford's younger sister.   Willow Candler: Magic user (Druid? Warlock?) operator of the Keep Candlery, which in addition to mundane and curious candles made of bees wax, bear fat, troll wax, and other materials, also produces a variety of (highly priced) magical candles imbued with a spell that takes effect soon after lighting and lasts as long as the candle remains lit. Willow disappeared for a few weeks and was feared to have been abducted by the humanoid kidnapping ring operating near the Keep, but in fact she had been on some scheme of her own that landed her in an Oubliette with an irritated Medusa who petrified her before she could cause any more trouble. She has recently been found, or recovered perhaps is a better term for it, because she's still made of alabaster. While her craft is the sort that would normally be housed in the Guild House, she is no longer welcome there.   Janni (JAHN-eee) Zeffirelli: Leader of the Zeffirelli Collective, a troupe of entertainers (and communards?) who play music, perform tricks and feats of derring-do, and generally add a little charm and class to the otherwise hopelessly backwater outpost at Raven's Rock. Zeffirelli himself is an awkwardly attractive human male of 19 or 20 with an unruly mop of black hair and a pitiful, adorably patchy moustache and beard. He writes poems, plays, musical pieces and the occasional manifesto.   Zaginax Cifari: Elven advisor to the Castellan, a wiry warcaster more suited to the archery range than a wizard's tower. Dating a half-elven bard, Delyn Lamastre, a frequent musician in the Castellan's court.
