Tenets of Faith

His is a religion of brotherhood and cooperation. Most companies, merchants, traders, and even adventuring parties are wise to pray to him for the success of their new ventures, which he is always happy to grant. Like some of the other gods, Lathander despises the undead, seeing them as a disavowal of new beginnings in the natural order, because undead cling to their old existence rather than moving on. Lathander welcomes to his fold adventurers who
  • Pray to him for success on a new venture.
  • Ritualistically try and experiment with new things. Never rest on one’s laurels.
  • Create and innovate technology, design, magic, or ideas.
  • Cooperate with others and form bonds of partnership, brotherhood, and love. Progress comes in many forms.
Lathander opposes devoutly any in his sight who dare
  • Tear down civilization or descend into anarchy.
  • Create and exploit undead for their own means, or purposefully choose to become one.
  • Sever or betray a partnership or bond of friendship through deceit or treachery.
  • Commit fraud.

Divine Goals & Aspirations

The Morninglord smiles upon advancement and progress in all things. His personal temples and shrines often host a wide range of functions. He seeks the unity of mortal races and jolly cooperation is the one thing he smiles on most. He enjoys the rising and building of new civilizations, especially those made of stone and wood and industry. Due to this, he sometimes rubs up the wrong branch of The Wild Mother’s tree, but Lathander never seeks to purposefully anger her or unbalance the natural order. Like The Wild Mother, he is directly opposed to Malnarius, who’s threat to destroy the earth through poison, disease, and strife equally affects his own domain. Lathander and Ilmater are brothers in their shared compassion for cooperation and elevating one’s peers.
