The Holy Mile

The Holy Mile is the name of a street which runs through the Northwestern side of Drakmort. Its name is derived from the fact that the street is designated as the city's primary religious district; churches, temples and shrines of various faiths and denominations line the street, representing nearly all of Drakmort's religious demographics. While the Holy Mile was designed with equal representation in mind, having so many disparate faiths sharing the same location is bound to cause friction, and as a result squabbles and other conflicts are commonplace.   The Holy Mile is overseen by the Drakmort Theurgists' Guild, who serve as an unbiased third party in mediating conflict between religious groups in the district. In the rare event that a new religion begins to take root in the city, the Guild is also responsible for providing this emergent faith with representation in the district as well as a site for a church, temple or shrine (if available and applicable to the religion).

Notable Locations

  • St. Vance's Cathedral is the largest religious building on the Holy Mile, dedicated to the Church of Solasne. The cathedral is named after the human wizard Vance, who was sanctified by the Church in the earliest days of the Modern Era for his role in ending the Millennium War.
  • The Forge of the First Fathers is a fully-functioning blacksmith shop which doubles as a temple dedicated to the dwarven pantheon. The Forge is run by the dwarf cleric Brandy Flintheart; Brandy's sons, Jin and Tonik, are well-known artficers and shopkeepers in Drakmort's Fortune Square.
  • The Keeper's Shrine is a new addition to the Holy Mile, existing as a simple open-air shrine on the corner of the street. The shrine exists as a tribute to Keeper, the warforged wizard and former head of the Drakmort Archivists' Guild; since their disappearance, Keeper has developed a cult following among the other Warforged in the city, which has evolved into full deification by the sermonizing of Keeper's most devoted follower, a Warforged preacher by the name of Sylo.
