Team Dustbowl

Team Dustbowl is the unofficial name of the adventuring party featured in the first campaign set within Teranuz, referred to as Dustbowl.   Unlike later campaigns in the Teranuz campaign setting, which use 5th edition Dungeons and Dragons as their primary system, the Dustbowl campaign was played using 1st edition Pathfinder, and as such the members of Team Dustbowl have classes and abilities which differ from most other Adventuring Parties in the setting.   Team Dustbowl is noteworthy for their exploits in the region of Drang; in addition to deposing the crime lord Oboe from the city of Drakmort, the original members of Team Dustbowl would later go on to become the founding members of the Marshals.

Chronicle

The members of Team Dustbowl were first assembled in the small town of Steadfast; Kraugh, Maldrek and Kursk were hired by the retired adventurer Cello Redcrest to retrieve a "package" from the Castanet Club in Drakmort and deliver across the desert to the city of Renouvelle in Hegia.   While making preparations in Steadfast, the party encountered Malakan, who was currently imprisoned and awaiting execution by the townspeople on wrongful charges. After helping Malakan to clear his name, the cleric then joined the party to assist them on their mission.   Upon arriving at the Castanet Club, the party discovered that their intended "package" was not an object but a woman by the name of Lyra; Cello's own granddaughter. It was revealed that Cello had apparently angered a local crime boss in Drakmort known only as the Hierophant, and as such Cello wanted his granddaughter safely escorted out of the city to avoid becoming a target. Madame Castanet, an old friend of Cello's, had been hiding Lyra in her establishment until Cello's mercenaries could arrive to retrieve her.   Unfortunately for the party, the Hierophant's level of influence and persistence would soon make themselves known. In addition to the natural hazards of desert travel such as monsters, bandits and violent sandstorms, Team Dustbowl would also have to contend with the Hierophant's hired assassins who pursued them relentlessly across the region of Drang. These assassins included the wererat gunslinger Bubonic Jones, the murderous Goblin twins known as the Brimstone Brothers, and the volatile Half-Orc alchemist Lefou.   On their travels, the party and Lyra also encountered a number of less hostile individuals, many of whom they stopped to assist with personal matters; as these side-excursions continued, Lyra slowly became more self-sufficient and confident in her own abilities, becoming skilled at both combat and survival under the tutelage and observation of the party.   Before reaching Renouvelle, the party eventually became fed up with running from the Hierophant's minions, instead resolving to return to Drakmort and take down the kingpin once and for all.   Tracking down the location of the Hierophant's safe house outside of Drakmort, the party invaded the secluded bunker and confronted the Hierophant face to face, revealing himself to be a Human named Oboe that the party had previously encountered in the guise of a beggar.   Physically enhanced by a number of alchemical mutagens, Oboe fought a drawn-out battle against the party, until a lucky shot to the neck from Lyra's pistol gave Maldrek and Kursk an opening to finish him off. In a last-ditch effort, Oboe attempted to destroy the party by activating several explosive grenades affixed to his belt, but Kraugh was able to use his kineticist abilities to create a bubble of air around Oboe which contained the blast. At long last, the crime lord of Drakmort lay dead at their feet, and Team Dustbowl's mission was completed.   After the events of this campaign, Malakan would later go on to form the organization known as the Marshals, with the assistance of Maldrek. Brother Kraugh returned to his life of wanderlust and self-discovery, and Kursk, following several leads he found on his travels, set out to find the mysterious one-eared Gnoll whose bandit army had razed his village. For her part, Lyra would remain in Drakmort as a liason to the Marshals, keeping tabs on the city's underworld should another threat arise to fill the vacuum of power the Hierophant left behind.
