Fortune Square

Fortune Square is one of the districts of the city of Drakmort. A gated shopping plaza accessible only by the wealthy and influential, Fortune Square is well-known to be the only district within the city where magic items can be legally bought and sold.

Description

Because it is the only part of the city that deals in magical items, the district of Fortune Square is highly regulated and heavily guarded. Only the most privileged of individuals are permitted to enter the district, let alone conduct business inside: the only way for an individual to gain access to Fortune Square is to earn the favour of one of the eight Drakmort Guilds, usually by performing some task or assignment in order to prove one's reliability and trustworthiness. Alternatively, due to their contibution to Drakmort's trade economy, one might also gain access to the district by proving themselves as a member of the Reclaimers.

Notable Locations

• The Brightflask Potion Distillery is the city's premier potion shop, having been run for generations by the halflings of the Brightflask family. The current owner of the store is Maeve Brightflask, an attractive (if socially stunted) halfling alchemist who has spent much of her life devoted to perfecting her family's craft.
• Grohl's Scrolls is a popular shop for aspiring mages, offering goods and services such as spell scrolls and and spellbook transcriptions. The store is named after its former owner, the prodigious human wizard Grohl Lamplighter; with Grohl's promotion to master of the Archivists' Guild, however, management of the bar was transferred to Grohl's apprentice, a human woman named Holly Quartz.
• Enrique's Boutique is the home of Drakmort's most renowned tailor, a flamboyant tiefling by the name of Enrique Firesong. Fashionistas from across the continent flock to Drakmort to catch a glimpse of Enrique's latest designs, made all the more resplendent by the fact that the tiefling's textiles have magic woven into their very seams.
• Jin and Tonik's Arcane Armory is a magical blacksmith shop owned by the twin dwarves Jin and Tonik Flintheart. Jin specializes in forging enchanted weapons, while Tonik's specialty lies in crafting magical armor. The twins are assisted by "Annie", a sentient anvil with the ability to walk using a set of quadrupedal, mechanical legs.
