Centaur

Centaurs are a race of equine humanoids native to the daylight side of The Feywild. Once utilized as beasts of burden by the Eladrin, the centaurs have since established their independence and maintain a tenuous alliance with the Eladrin's Seelie court.

Appearance

From the waist up, a centaur resembles an Elf in appearance, displaying the same range of hair, eye and skin tones typically exhibited by elves. From the waist down, however, a centaur possesses the lower body of a horse.

Traits and Abilities

Due to their equine lower bodies, centaurs possess an impressive degree of strength and endurance, as well as the stamina to run further and faster than the average two-legged humanoid. The back of a centaur's lower half is typically strong enough to carry a creature of Human size or smaller.

History

Prior to the discovery of the Prime Material Plane, the centaurs of the Feywild led a tumultuous ecistence, often being exploited by the Eladrin of either court as a source of labor.   Following the events of The Fade, however, the Eladrin that returned to the Feywild grew paranoid that the centaurs may eventually rebel against them like the humans of Teranuz. Seizing the opportunity created by the Eladrin's newfound uncertainty, the centaurs, led by a champion of their own, made a show of force against their elven overlords. In doing so, the centaurs were able to successfully secure a foothold of freedom and independence, removing themselves from the Eladrin cities and returning to the Feywild's natural forests and plains from hich their originally dwelled.   In the Modern Era, the centaurs have successfully re-established their independence, residing in tribal communities within the daylight side of the Feywild. While they have not forgotten their past mistreatment, the centaurs maintain a tenuous alliance with the current Eladrin of the Seelie court, freqnetly lending their services as trackers and mercenaries.
