The Poimans Incident

The Assassination of the archmage Meinfredus

The Poimans Incident, which occurred in the city of Poimans, the capital of Auvernia in 2267 MC, is a significant event in the history of the region. It unfolded as follows:

Assassination of Meinfredus the Third

During a major celebration within the city, Meinfredus the Third, the grandmaster of the arcane academy of Poimans, was tragically assassinated. The plot behind this assassination was orchestrated by one of his close colleagues, who harbored sinister intentions.

Unleashing the Fire Golem

In his final moments, Meinfredus, a powerful wizard, unleashed a monstrous fire golem into the arena where the main event was taking place. This unleashed golem caused widespread destruction and claimed the lives of many innocent people.

Defeat by the Golden Lions

The chaos and devastation brought about by the fire golem led to a group of brave heroes known as the Golden Lions stepping forward to confront and ultimately defeat the rampaging creature. Their heroic actions helped contain the threat and save lives.

Meinfredus's Secret Ambitions

Following the tragic incident, it was revealed that Meinfredus had been secretly plotting to overthrow the archduke of Auvernia and replace him with a puppet ruler. His ultimate goal was to dismantle the regulations and prosecutions imposed by the Septan Church on sorcerers and magic users. He aspired to create a sanctuary where those studying the arcane arts could operate freely, free from religious control.

Legacy and Rumors

Meinfredus the Third, despite his sinister intentions, remains a figure of admiration among some renegade sorcerers who saw him as a hero. Rumors persist that he possessed an item of immense power, adding to his mystique.

Consequences and Orosian Schism

The aftermath of the Poimans Incident had far-reaching consequences, including waves of unrest and growing anti-magic sentiments. This event played a role in the lead-up to the Orosian Schism, which divided the faith of Orosism into two major branches, Empyrean and Septan.   Heroic Figure: Rafael I Lachance Among the heroes who valiantly confronted and defeated the fire golem that fateful day was Rafael I Lachance. He later went on to become the count of Avissy and Aubermont and initiated the influential Waleran dynasty.   The Poimans Incident stands as a pivotal moment in the history of Auvernia and the broader Orosism faith, with its repercussions shaping the course of events and contributing to the division within the faith.
