Hesenaria

Also called the Land of Lovers    Hesenaria was located in north-eastern Diakas. The region was dominated by pine forests and rocky hills. Because of the terrain, olive farms were relatively common. Several large city-states dominated the area.   In mythology, the region was made famous by being the site of the union between Lilia and Trenios. Lilia was a Divine, the last born before the war. She was the personal messenger to her father, Peron, along with being the protector of olive groves and other orchards. Trenios, meanwhile, was a Daimon acting as a guardian of Hesenaria. He originally represented the local pine forests, but then came to become the deity presiding over the entire region.   The two first met before the war at one of the gods’ lavish parties. They conversed throughout the night and took a liking to each other thereafter. As tensions between the two divine lineages escalated, they continued to meet. After discouragement from both their families, they spent time together in secret. They became lovers not long before the start of the war.    During the war, Lilia attempted to avoid Trenios, so they wouldn’t be forced to exchange blows. She carried out her duties to her father and family faithfully, never once losing hope she would meet her dear Trenios again. He, meanwhile, guarded Hesenaria from southern incursions, defeating Ertano in single combat and preventing him from reinforcing his brothers further to the north.   On the eve of the Battle of Paresine, Lilia passed through the region to deliver a messae to her father. She met with her beloved and married her in a sacred grove of pines, with several lesser Daimons in attendance. From there, they traveled to declare their love before the rest of the gods. Flora and Fauna: The most common variety of pine was the Southern pine. Bears and wolves were not uncommon in the hills, where they fed on deer and wild boar.
