In other words, gold was easily hammered, pressed, rolled due to its ability to change shape without breaking or losing structural integrity.   Geology: Alluvial deposits -in sedimentary rock in and around rivers - were frequent sources of gold.   Common Use: Being too soft for weapons, gold was most often used for creating jewelry and other luxury goods. Examples include cups, plates, utensils, basins. Idols were fashioned with gold to honor the gods and goddesses they depicted. Gold coinage was common throughout the world, used for higher denominations. Most poor people would never see a gold coin in their lives. The wealthy used them to store wealth and make large transactions. Lower class people, meanwhile, relied on copper and silver coins for everyday purchases.   Cultural Significance: The metal had a great significance in every culture stretching back before the beginning of recorded history. Many peoples associated its bright yellow color with the sun, the giver of life. The Venians lacked a mythological association for gold, but it featured heavily in their stories. Meanwhile, the Diakai used gold to adorn sculptures because of its supposed divine appearance. The Satri associated it with the fire god Banarut, along with silver. The giants of Gumara considered it as the physical manifestation of the sun on earth. The Fahris of Valinyd believed it to be the congealed blood of immortal beings, leftover from their countless wars at the beginning of time. Because of its rarity and high value Reusability: Gold was easily melted down and reused to create new items.
