Midwinter Festival

A month-long glut of festivities and good cheer that Elvendom celebrates, with gusto. It is a time of forgiveness, generosity, and goodwill. Crafted gewgaws and beautiful gifts are exchanged, the food is copious and non-stop, and for the month of Cember all of Elvendom strives to forget their worries, drown their fears in dance and drink, and make merry in a whirl of green and red clothing, holly-branch crowns, and evergreen boughs.

History

It is the celebration that encompasses the shortest day of the year, and is meant to symbolize the triumph of Light over Darkness.

Execution

People plan for the month of Cember all year, knitting sweaters that are designed to win 'bad sweater' contests all around the land of Feynor.

Components and tools

Holly branches and evergreen boughs, sugar cookies and flavored ice.

Participants

People fall all over themselves to find, make, or buy, that 'perfect gift' for loved ones. There is a real sense of family and acceptance.

Observance

Midwinter is observed the entire 12th month, the month of Cember.
