Kukiri Mutate

The depths of Kukiri Chasm are very dangerous, and all the moreso due to the presence of a great evil that took up residence there more than a thousand years ago. Ever since, the influence of those evil magics takes a toll on everything around it. It changes the landscape, even, in that seismic events are more common than they would be elsewise. Yet most significantly, it can metamorphose the fauna.

Any creature that lives within the dracolich's influence is changed, physically. They all become carnivorous, for one thing, and they all gain a burrow speed equal to half their walking speed, unless they can already burrow. They begin to hulk with muscle, and to glow a deep, dark blue. Mutates have an intense and irrational hatred of the non-mutated.

Gameplay Translation:

Any creature living within six miles of Ancient Anaemonae's lair will be mutated and essentially corrupted by his foul magics and mere unholy presence. Mutates will have maximum hit points, deal an extra 1d6 of necrotic damage, and will attack anything not mutated, on sight, in a bloodthirsty rage. Mutates also have -2 to Wisdom saving throws, but +2 to attack rolls.

Kukiri Mutates are the unfortunate creatures that have lived near enough to Ancient Anaemonae's lair to have been changed by its foul magics. They begin to grow thick with sinew and muscle, and to glow a dark blue. Mutates will attack any non-mutated creature on sight. This includes the snails and spiders, and other innocuous seeming critters of the tunnels.

Mutates gain +2 in Strength and Constiution, but lose -1 on Charisma and Intelligence, and -2 to Wisdom. They gain a climbing speed equal to their walking speed, a burrow speed of half their regular movement speed, and they all become carniverous if they were not already. Creatures that can communicate will repeat phrases, such as "bleeding for days", or "new puppet for the puppet master?", or just giggle incoherently, driven insane by the hellish presence below.
