A tavern owner and racontuer on the flying island of Cloud Nine, Clay was elected to the Cloud Nine Cabinet only a few short years ago, but has already made some big changes to the voting structure and political climate within the Cabinet.
Clay Caliph is the owner/operator of The Tippled Gander, a tavern and Inn on Cloud Nine that is known for serving up the best Hot Toddy anywhere. He brews his own beer and ale, and grows fresh herbs in a small greenhouse built into the kitchen pantry. He lives on the property, a widower with no thoughts of remarrying, with his son Gunther, and a pet pig named Lester.

Clay is a former taproom brawler, and has the scars to prove it, but that was a long time ago and deep in Clay's past. He has reached a level of serenity most people aspire to in their lifetimes.

Clay is a little on the small side for a former brawler, but the imposing nature of his scars and cauliflower ear have faded over time, and he now seems exactly like the innkeeper and doting father that he always wished to be.

Clay is a master chef and mixologist who truly loves his Inn, his work, and his customers...and it shows in a million little ways. From the home made caramel sauce he uses in his hot toddies, to the polished shine on the flatware, the care and love he puts into his place is patently obvious.
Mental Trauma
The death of his wife was very hard on Clay. So, he lavished all that love and affection on his son, Gunther, and pet pot-bellied pig, Lester.
