While working on an Elemental Engine in a train on the Central Dominion Line when the engine exploded and Oliver was killed. Miracuously, Oliver woke up soon after, alive, but changed. He was once a human, but he was now an Aasimar, and it would seem that his soul had chosen to remain on the Prime Material Plane for a while longer.
