Hakalta's Hammer

In the earliest days of the world, before the time of the small folk, before the memories of you and I or anyone on Teldir, there was the Primordial War. The giants and dragons fought over the primeval land which was being forged before their eyes. For many years, the war was at a point of stagnation, neither side had the upper hand, and the giants sought a way to tip the war in their favor. They turned to Hakalta, renowned frost giant smith and warrior, to create a powerful weapon to combat the dragons.   In her icy forge, Hakalta forged a warhammer with her own bare hands. After two years of sleepless labor, the weapon was finished. She brought it to the battlefield herself, and proved to be one of the strongest of both sides due to the many months of labor she endured. The weapon showed to be just as fearsome as she, for whenever the hammer struck the earth, mountains rose from the quake that followed. Thus the hammer was given the name Peakriser.   Despite its power, though, the giants still did not win the war, for it instead slowly quieted to a standstill over many years. As the Primordial War fell to an end, Hakalta buried the weapon beneath the earth in the site of the largest battle where Peakriser was weilded. The weapon would be found once again when it would be needed most. Its time may come soon or far in the future. It may come tomorrow or never at all.
-Abriged telling from Siegar, frost giant storyteller.     Hakalta's Hammer is a Frost giant myth that spread to most cultures of Kysnscore and Kjull. It is a creation myth detailing the origin of Teldir's mountains through a legendary hammer known as Peakriser. There is no solid evidence of a historical basis outside of the story, as the weapon has yet to be discovered. Most evidence points to the hammer being buried somewhere near Redfell, where many have attempted to unearth the weapon, although nothing has ben found yet.   This article was created for Summer Camp 2020
