Demographics

The population of Colkurk is just shy of fifty thousand with about two-thirds of that being human. There is also a fairly large Orc population who were invited to join the city after Martelus saved the city from the first Great Goblin Invasion.
There was a brief period of contention and racism between the two peoples but the races could not be closer currently.

History

The Boleyn family has been in the West since the first humans came down from the Helm to reestablish Arishtok. Colkurk is built on the foundation of that ancient city. The noble family in Colkurk was the Boleyn family until King Vladimir took power. After King Vladimir perished at the well of the world defeating Ezreh, the newly crowned Emperor Luka Corrus created the first democracy in the Telion Empire which Colkurk became the model for the rest of the country in years to come.
The city is currently the home of King Vladimir's tomb.

Geography

Colkurk is located on the western coast of Atala. The area is part of a boreal region to the west of Ascent. The trees in this region are adapted to a long and cold winter, and most of these species can tolerate colder winter temperatures.

Climate

While Colkurk is not must more north than Eastbourne it is the coldest city in the Telion Empire. This is due to it being located in the foothills of Ascent where winter lasts nine months of the year. The summer peaks at about 10 degrees and the long winter rests at about-20 degrees.
There are ice breaker ships in Colkurk which have the sole purpose of clearing shipping lanes for ships coming from Shipton, Harkenwold or Eastbourne.
