Faloura

Description

The smallest of the three nations in Vapolis and seen as more of a trade alliance than a official country, Faloura runs along the Southern coast and is run by a council of four. The small nation has more wealth than most of the world combined and is where merchants seek to strike it rich, they have good connections and relations with all of Tel’estria. The whole place is a mixing pot of cultures, each of the four major ports has their own set of rules and laws that are set by their council representative. Having been built by many different races and peoples, anyone has a chance to strike it rich in Faloura, however it is fairly common to end up with far less than you started with in this cutthroat business landscape. While there is no official capital city Vimot the largest and most prosperous, it is the most regular place where the council meets.

Council of Four

Four cities hold power on the council and each city is represented by a member of the ruling family from that city. Damon Viscere , Jessica Brook, Randal Keagan, and Tulagn Orbal hold theses seats currently. The common law is decided by them however each holds power over their own city to enact their own laws as they see fit.

Whilst the council only seats four, there is always a prescence from the Dallo Family, usually in the form of a representitive of the Tripolis Bank, as well as any other pertinantly invited guests.

Military

There is one god in Faloura and that is gold, everything has a price on it. Even the army, known as ‘The Silk Legion’ who are the official military force, are a mercenary company. They function as town guards in all of the towns and cities over the country. They keep the jails, and man the ports and passes that lead into the country. They don’t have an official base but all of the major cities house a barracks where local officers of the Army run local issues, the heads of the Military live in Vimot. The troops are defined by their silver and gold armour and weaponry which is much more durable than any other military force in Tel’estria. ‘The Gilded Legion’ are the military force that guards the Bank.

History

Faloura gained its massive wealth of natural resources by selling them to the Soris empire eventually they built a massive fleet or trade ships, while a lot of the resources have dried up they are still to worlds hub for global trade and use this fact to their advantage levying massive taxes and tolls for using their ports.

The four houses are the remains of the six nobles that once ran the small country, there was a civil war 460 years ago where one of the families were wiped out and their port demolished, the remaining five families banded together all fearful that the others could end them and formed the council of four with the Dallo Family giving up all claims on power to become the countries banker, using various types and magic and Dwarven engineering they built a giant vault that houses most of Falouras wealth in the side of the mountain.
