Zayn's was almost assimilated during the attempted Steel Swarm invasion, but exposure to Swarm nanobots activated his metahuman genes. Instead of becoming a techno-zombie, Zayn absorbed and co-opted the nanobots and integrated them into his system, gaining significant increases in strength, agility and toughness, as well as the ability to extrude nanowires that enable him scale buildings. Zayn is super new to the whole hero thing and is reluctant for anyone to find out about his abilities. He doesn't want to spend the rest of his life being studied in an A.E.G.I.S. facility.
