Annabelle the Cloud-Eyes

Annabelle Weber was a user of Magic before it was a constant of the human experience, nearly a thousand years ago. In her day, very few individuals were born with Magic, and for most of them, their Magic was often wild and dangerous, even to the possessor. It still had many of the same properties, adapting as it does today to its owner's personality and passions, although if today's Magic were to be described as a docile domesticated dog, the Magic of Annabelle's time was more like a wolf that had accepted you into its pack. It would be loyal and act in your collective best interest, but often had a very straightforward way of solving problems. Non-magical folk at the time often treated users of Magic less than kindly, a reaction likely stemming from fear.
Annabelle was one of the lucky Mages of her day who was born to a power which was both powerful and well under her control. As she grew, she did not have her power reveal itself in a frightening way, and grew up in relative peace. As she came of age, she was already aware of her powers of clairvoyance, and became something of a legend. She would travel from place to place, using her Magic powers of divination to solve crimes and remedy injustices which might otherwise have been impossible to investigate. It seemed she lived a charmed life.
Unfortunately, Annabelle was blinded by assassins in her mid-20s. They had hired another Mage, who protected them from Annabelle's sight using his own powers. After the other Mage realized who he had been hired to harm, he turned on the assassins and helped Annabelle defeat them.
She would later marry the Mage who had come with the assassins.
She never recovered her sight, but learned to get by without it using her magical prowess. Her magical powers only grew from there, nurtured through constant use and reliance.
