Life, Education
Spending the day with Rene yesterday was brilliant, we did a bit of horseback riding at the Royal Equestrian Center, then he helped me get a membership set up for the Aquatic Center. With the membership, I can go at any time, 'round the clock.' In the evening we dined at this amazing and obscenely expensive restaurant called Ciro's.
We came back to St. James and he helped me prepare for the brief move to Dartmouth.
Now, when I got here, I suppose I expected rooming similar to Eton or Oxford. I did not expect to be sharing what amounts to a four man dormitory.
My new "Commanding Officer" is a fat, bald man who immediately called me Sebastian. He treated me like any of the other midshipman.
I'm not sure what got into me but when he called me by my name I actually corrected him he gave me a very confused face.
"I'm His Royal Highness, the Duke of Cambridge."
He was utterly gobsmacked. At first I think he thought I was joking. Another officer approached and asked by what right I was correcting them.
"By right that my great grandmother is the Queen, to whom you have pledged loyalty. And by the right that I shall one day be the Sovereign, and you will then swear your loyalty to me."
And then, they actually called me "Your Highness."
I suspect I'll be in trouble at some point over this.
