Annie's birthday party last night was the sort that leaves people wishing they were dead. I've never seen so much wine and sidre absolutely tanked through by so few 16 year olds.
Then just as if a bit of cosmic revenge were at play, Mummy decided that we -- Mummy, Annie and myself -- would go to a shelter for young folks 6-18 who have been kicked out of their homes.
There are several reason parents kick ot their kids, all of them sick., but the most common was kids' who've come out. Queer kids. I don't mind admitting that I cried over it, removed myself to the toilets and blubbed a bit.
I got ahold of myself after a bit and was able to talk to the site director. There are dozens of shelters like that one -- for young folks -- across the United Kingdom. Resources are tight and they are all competing for what resourse ther eare. There must be a better way.
