Today I agreed to indulge my sister by letting her drag me to Hobbiton, the psuedo-fictional village from the Lord of the Rings, not a place lever thought I'd want to visit but it was actually really fascinating.

Somehow while there, we started talking about what the future might be like, probably because Anne asked what people from Tolkein's world would think of our would they see us as magical or would they imagine us from the future?

Well conversation about the future led to talking about our futures. We avoided the most uncomfortable part, my partner, but Anne asked a question that I'm ashamed that I have an actual answer to, one I've actually given thought to. I'm ashamed because it means I've thought about my own accession, which means Gran, Grandpapa, and Papa's deaths. She asked me if I thought about taking a regnal name.

Adding to my shame, I answered without thinking. "Arthur."

For a moment she just looked at me, among the picturesque hills in New Zealand. "We're totally talking about this in the car."

After we left, we got in the Range Rover and I swear the engine hadn't even been turned on before Anne said "You didn't even have to think about it."

I told her I'd been thinking about it for 10 years. Then she called me a "magnificent, ambitious twat" and laughed.

It has nothing to do with ambition, but she knew I always loved Arthurian legend.

Anne practically giggled before saying that naming myself after our most legendary king is either ambitious, overconfident, or fool hardy. I told her "or just a prince who loves a bit of magic and myth"

She laughed again and said "Yeah, okay, King Arthur."

I cannot pretend I didn't like it.

Kind of cool.
