Diplomatic action
I arrived in Johannesburg lastnight at about 11:30. At noon tomorrow I set out on an 8,000 kilometer motor bike ride through several south African nations. The idea had been that I might speak at both the start and endpoints about the continued and disproportionate spread of HIV/AIDS in Africa. The fact is, HIV is not a death sentence in much of the developed world and is in fact more of an inconvenience.
In fact, thanks to medical science, it's also incredibly preventable, and yet on the African continent, people continue to die in number as if it were a plague.
Palace Communications put the Johannesburg speech on the chopping block this morning suggesting now I only speak in Zimbabwe. Anything is better than nothing.
