Danger is cumulative it seems, and never has that been more evident than now. The rain has been rather constant all over Britain and late last night, the River Trent crested well above flood stage. A village along the banks was particularly hit and several families have been displaced. The Prince's Trust stepped in as it does so well, and has provided shelter. I travelled to the area today, visiting the shelter as well as making a surprise visit to the two children in hospital.

On the way back to London, the helicopter flew over the worst of it. The Tren is still surging through the streets and in their homes.

I ache for them yet I am awed by the power of nature.
