What a day! It is always astonishing how even in the darkest depths of my mind a single moment can save a dozen more. The grand mountian range of gifts this year was particularly impressive. It never fails to make me laugh, seeing the dignity of this family evaporate and everyone devolve into savages over mounds of foil wrapped boxes and Christmas crackers.
Anne got me a book based on the great classical world mythologies. She says she thinks I'll find it particularly moving, 'Song of Achilles.' I hope it's as good as Anne is implying.
