Of all the things I imagined might happen on the Commonwealth Tour, Pirates were not on the list.
Last night, as we sailed down the African coast, I was on the veranda. Suddenly I could hear gunfire across the water and then the ship's contingent of Royal Marines burst into our room and practically dragged us to Britannia's bridge. We stayed there all night, under guard.
When the sun came up, Dauntless and the other destroyers destroyed their little fast boats. I always knew the Commonwealth Tour would be fascinating. I never would have guessed pirates!
