Anatomy

Teratorn appear as normal birds, with the addition of two sacks of liquid running along either side of the spine, just underneath the skin.

Biological Traits

They are simple birds at first glance, but have two distinct qualities that betray their average properties: their eyes are a piercing orange that seem to glow dimly, and located along either side of their spine is a sack of liquid connected through the blood streams to every part of the body, letting them give off light in the dark; though it is too dim to see in daylight.

Genetics and Reproduction

Due to their similarities to birds, natural philosophers assume they reproduce in a similar manner, but this has yet to be confirmed.

Ecology and Habitats

Teratorn travel from plane to plane, flying through almost any habitat hunting food for a small time, but never staying.

They seem to eat exclusively humanoids.

Domestication is a difficult process, and at best riding an Teratorn dangerous, but they serve as excellent guides for balloons and ships if fed several humans.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Teratorn have two large eyes, that can pierce darkness, fog, or similar obstructions. They also seem to sense things at the last minute, arrows usually flying past them after a slight tilt of the wings.
