The Miner's Secession War

The Miner's Secession War was a short and bloodless rebellion instigated by the Miner's Combine (later known as the Affiliated Miner's Combine) that saw some of the largest mining settlements of the Arcadian Explorer's Union and the Commonwealth Front of Arcadian Science break away from the factions and demand independence. Both of these federated settlements, the Miners of Martin and the Miners of Boland, agreed to form the Miner's Combine and cooperate with each other in achieving their goals. The entire conflict lasted a matter of two weeks from 6th January 2577 to 21st January 2577, and was sparked by both of the major factions cracking down on what was considered to be 'vigilantism' by citizens of the mining settlements against security personnel guaranteeing the safety of Earth Empire Exodist traders. It only ended when hostages taken by the Miner's Combine were freed in exchange for independence talks, with several tense sieges at the various settlements taking place before this. The conflict is remarkable in that there were no fatalities on either side. Although people were injured in the many skirmishes and standoffs that took place, both sides refrained from escalating the violence into bloodshed. In this sense, many believe the rebellion to be less of a 'war' and more of a violent protest. Regardless, The Miner's Secession War has kept its name in the history archives and is a point of pride for the Affiliated Miner's Combine, as their victory in the conflict against two much greater opponents without losing a single person is considered a heroic achievement.

Good start to this article, I like how you went the peace talks route. A little more politically driven than most submissions for the summer camp prompt. Good job :)
