The Doomsword

The Doomsword is an ancient weapon, said to have been originally forged by Sigurd. At one point, it was considered one of Sigurd's greatest works, and rivaled the weapons of his siblings. Once, it gleamed with a light strong enough to rival the sun, and would cut effortlessly through most all things. Sigurd, knowing this weapon must be saved for the final fight against Otti, locked it away for his later use.   The blade was stolen by Saakal, the trickster god of the Feadan Dubh. After he handed it away to his kinsman Zumbur, the blade lost its bright luster, eventually becoming infused with Zumbur's hatred towards nature's enemies. The blade no longer cut as effectively, but now left a deep, dark side effect on any struck by it: their souls would leak through the wound as well. Sigurd, seeing what had become of his weapon, devised a plan to take it back and purify it. Through a deal with his brother þurisaz, the two worked together to defeat Zumbur and retrieve the newly formed Doomsword.    Sigurd was unsuccessful in purifying the blade, and instead shattered its pieces across the Material Plane. As a god's weapon, a shattered piece of the Doomsword, if found, could make a serviceable weapon on its own.
