Tascallon

Within Tascallon, the Material Plane was created by the will of one god known as Hangatyr. Hangatyr sacrificed his physical form to provide the mortals with a place to live safely, as no other place within Tascallon's pathways provided this safe haven. Hangatyr's body now hangs, loosely connected to the astral flow of the pathways known as the World Tree, evolving and changing with the mortals who inhabit it.   A majority of the events in Tascallon take place on the continent of Avrolla, where five nations currently thrive after years of change:

The Fylkirate of the Northmen, who pay homage to Hangatyr and his kin. They believe their leader, the Fylkir, possesses the spiritual essence of the god who so generously sacrificed himself for their sake.

The Martellite Empire, a once fractured and feuding nation, now made whole by the efforts of the new Emperor: Charles Henrik Ecleziar. The Martellite Empire, though burdened by their feuds, hosts a great deal of honorable knights, driven by adventure.

The Elves of the Eiturwood, a xenophobic and violent faction caught between the Empire and the Fylkirate. They believe their gods created them to be a master race who steward over nature, promoting a 'survival of the fittest' mentality.

The Skywall, the last remnant of the High Elven Empires, driven by pursuit of beauty. Residents of the Skywall will go to great lengths to advance the arts and concept of what it means to be beautiful.

The Free Cities of Härtenstadt, a democratic alliance of dwarven city states, unified only by their need for power against the other factions. Despite this opposition, the dwarves have overcome their natural aversion to magic through inventions fueled by the Material Plane's own magic.
