Hangatyr

Hangatyr is the central figure of the Nordergott pantheon. It is accepted by those who follow the Nordergott faith that before mortals had a place to live, they were in endless danger, wandering the pathways of the World Tree under constant threat of interplanar threats. Hangatyr, believing the mortals needed a place to call their own home like all the other creatures, decided to give his life to provide it. Hangatyr took a section of vine directly from the World Tree and hung his physical form, freeing his spirit. Through using ancient, unknown magics, Hangatyr crafted his body into a world.    His soul watches over his body, the newly crafted Material Plane, now unable to directly intervene without gaining a new physical form. To this end, he demanded his five sons watch over the Material Plane and safeguard it from being destroyed. One specific threat that Hangatyr foresaw was that of the Dread Wolf, Otti. Knowing the ravenous wolf-god would resent him for isolating and keeping humanity safe, Hangatyr orchestrated a plan by which his soul could possess a descendant of his sons, thus enabling him to face off against Otti when he attempts to consume the Material Plane.
