Asbjörn Sigurdsson

Asbjörn Sigurdsson is a folk hero in The Fylkirate and a historical figure. He was the founder of the Holmsgarðr order, and a great many legend is attached to his escapades. The nigh eternal rivalry between him and Kjartan the Bloodaxe is one of the cultural epics of The Fylkirate.
Born to an unwed mother who worshipped Sigurd, Asbjörn had a tough upbringing. Though oddly strong for a child, Asbjörn was often rejected and ridiculed for being a bastard, something that as a youth he came to hate. Often, he would get into altercations with the youth of his home village, until one day he was sent to the local priest to learn discipline. It was under this priest that Asbjörn found a deep respect for the gods, and sought to spread their glory however he could.
Eventually, he came to terms with his unknown heritage, as it was soon revealed that his father was a member of the Stålvingar Clan. He once confronted the clan about his lineage to find his father had died months after his birth, seeking a witch in service to Otti. To avenge his father, and learn more about who he truly was, he sought out the same witch.
He once absorbed a great deal of aether directly from the Aetheric Pathways, and disappeared from the world of Tascallon for a long period of time. There are unfound rumors of Asbjörn occasionally wandering around the mountains of The Fylkirate, and even visiting the Holmsgarðr. In the places he is seen, often a life-sized ice statue stands near where he was seen.
