The Grand Binding

The Grand Binding (or simply "The Binding") is the tale largely accepted by all sentient denizens of the world as the birth of all. It has come to many over the ages in dreams and visions, with accounts from all over Tarsis being near identical even across species. While there are a few doubters or deniers of The Binding, the overwhelming correlation has most taking it, or some variation thereof, as the truth.

Summary

Before time could even be a vague direction, there was The Pantheon, a group of beings beyond mortal comprehension. Bored with the endless state of limbo and bickering, they joined together and used their power to form Maiga and began to corral the dust of the void into balls, growing them, having them dance around one another. Some caught flame to burn for eternity, others became rocks of all sizes, hurtling around one another. Sometimes they collided, resulting in a show of sparks and shards scattering, to hit something else or be bound into something new. Gradually, one ball had grown to a size where it was stable around a fireball, creating weather and currents. The gods took notice of this ball, and began to shape portions of it to their own individual whims, calling forth earth and mountain from the roiling seas. Overflowing with Maiga, this primordial energy began to not simply take form, but began making forms, giving rise to life: plants, fish, and the first primitive land creatures. The Pantheon rapidly began to impose their realms of influence upon life, in some cases claiming entire species and their descendants. Once the ball had been divided amongst the gods, they stepped back and observed their creation, blessing it with a name;

"Tarsis."
