Rakshasa

Rakshasa waste no opportunity to display their wealth and power, even in the midst of a sorcerous duel.
Tiger-like in appearance, the rakshasa are fiends native to Tarkir's humid jungles. They are known far and wide as both adept wielders of magic and brokers of secrets. Less known about them is their mastery of deception. Offering deals that sound advantageous to those who forget who they are dealing with, only to trap the individual in an agreement that few can ever hope to escape from.

Uneasy Allies

Rakshasas are a part of clan Silumgar, but live with an uneasy truce existing between them and the dragons. Silumgar is smart enough to know that their powerful magic makes the rakshasas useful allies, but also dangerous enemies. The dragonlord's paranoia gnaws at him, constantly fearing that the rakshasas might one day prove treacherous.

Dark Bargains

Arrogant to a fault, the rakshasa believe themselves to be the most cunning of creatures. Believing that no one could be their peer. Even so, the rakshasa are open to dealing with mortals as long as those mortals show the proper respect and deference. Rakshasa desire knowledge above all things and greatly enjoys knowing the secrets of others.    Rakshasa enjoy striking bargains with mortals seeking to gain power, status, or riches, but a mortal making such a bargain must be wary. These fiends are cunning negotiators and positively ruthless when it comes to enforcing the terms of any agreed upon bargain.

History

The ancient Sultai were the ones that called out to the rakshasa, forging demonic pacts with the fiends to learn from them. These Sultai soon became adept at deadlier forms of magic, and their willingness to use this magic made them all the more formidable.
