Regalport

Over 6000 years ago most of Noyatu was under the control of the Rifaagud Dynasty, but east of the Demon Wastes laid the Magescar Jungle and a collection of 19 islands. These lands were unclaimed by any unified force and inhabited by tribes of wood elves, lizardfolk, tabaxi, and humans. These peoples had coexisted among the dangerous jungles and ancient ruins since the Divine Exile. Meanwhile, on the northern continent, Oprynkyst, Captain Isabela Lhazaar was causing havoc all along the Menagerie Coast. She was the most infamous pirate of her time and her ship, the Seadragon, was known from Calimport to Athkatla. She had many secret outposts in the Thunder Ocean but had to abandon them once authorities ran her off the continent.   In the following months, she and her crew sailed from island to island hoping to find refuge. Lhazaar held meetings with the various Datus of Sina Una, the king of the tritons, and a few sea elf lords. None would accept her and the Seadragons. Then the Seadragons found Noyatu. Lhazaar knew to avoid the undead jungles of Chult and word of the monstrous Rifaagud Dynasty had reached Oprynkyst millennia earlier. All thought the continent was a dead end and so the Seadragon sailed east along Noyatu's northern coast hoping that the continent of Mokuwai would serve better. As they sailed past the Magescar Jungle and the 19 islands, Captain Isabela had an idea. This sea was a calmer locale with the largest threats coming from the lizardfolk tribes that inhabited certain areas. Lhazaar settled on the island of Greentarn and the crew decided to call their new home Port Christopher, in honor of the original Seadragon captain.   Port Christopher eventually grew as it, Varna, and Sharn were the only ports that avoided Rifaagud rule. As its influence grew and Captain Isabela Lhazaar redeemed her reputation, the town was referred to as the regal port of Lhazaar. This nomenclature spread and soon Port Christopher was rebranded Regalport and the region containing the Magescar Jungle, the 19 islands, and the surrounding waters was labeled as the Lhazaar Sea. Today, Regalport is the largest city in the Lhazaar Principalities. Following the War of the Five Nations, Captain Ryger Gorza appealed to the Five Nations to recognize the principalities as a single nation and gave himself the title of "High Prince". Like most of the principalities, Regalport is extremely welcoming to adventurers. Lhazaar is a realm of new beginnings and adventures for those of all walks of life.

High Prince Ryger Gorza and the Seadragons

A leader amongst leaders, High Prince Ryger Gorza is a peerless athlete, cunning tactician, and suave diplomat. Ryger is a sterling example of Lhazaar's meritocratic principles, a true rags-to-riches story. While the High Prince claims some distant relationship to the original Seadragon crew, most consider this claim to be part of his self-made mythos rather than a serious gesture towards birthright. Still, Ryger has great ambitions for the Principalities and hopes to consolidate power peacefully, to ensure the prosperity of the region. His greatest foe in this regard is the Plank King and the pirates of Darktow, who seek to tear down the order he has so carefully crafted.   The size and success of the Seadragons have formalized their internal hierarchy. Captains usually have tactical autonomy to conduct missions as they see best but defer to Ryger for strategic decisions such as the choice between anti-piracy patrols or engaging in trade. One of the Seadragon's greatest strengths has been investments in long-range communication magic, so each captain can stay in contact with Ryger on a daily basis. This dynamism has helped the fleet balance priorities between merchants, peacekeepers, and during the war privateers.

Regal Trade of the Islands

Regalport's Pirate Exchange competes with Varna and Sharn for "Most Exotic Market in Noyatu". In addition to local goods from the isles and the Magescar Jungle, the market heavily features goods from Sina Una, southern Oprynkyst, and western Mokuwai. While authorities here crack down on goods obtained through outright piracy, they are much more tolerant of smuggled goods from other continents. A seedier side of the Pirate Exchange feeds on the legal slave trade within the principalities. A corner is dominated by the Acquired Labor Tradepost, operated by Auctioneer Isembold Chery, and holds the title of "Largest Slave Trade in Noyatu".

Dragonmarked Houses on the Isle

All dragonmarked houses have enclaves in Regalport (excluding House Phiarlan) but some are more active in the city than others. The most prominent of all the great houses in Regalport is Hosue Thuranni. They are the providers and regulators of all forms of art and performances east of the Talenta Plains. House Thuranni's headquarters, Jungle's Lover Theatre, is world-renowned for its performances including The Spectre of the Aria, The Noise of Instruments, and Dancin' in the Snow. High Prince Ryger and many of the other princes of the principalities hire Thuranni elves for private performances for special events and galas.   House Ghallanda also holds some status in Regalport, running the Golden Ocean Resort and a branch of the Gold Dragon Inn. The two houses have a special relationship where Thuranni elves may stay at Gold Dragon Inns in the principalities at a discount if they agree to hold a performance every night they stay. In return, Ghallanda halflings proudly advertise Thuranni performances and receive tickets to said shows.   Portsmouth Harbor is the busiest harbor in all the principalities, and luckily for House Orien, they own the whole operation. The largest portion of their business in Regalport is hiring Seadragon ships as mail couriers and to act as an alternate merchant fleet to rival House Lyrander. House Orien has such a grasp on the sailing business in the Lhazaar capital that Lyrander ships are extremely rare to find in the city.

Odyssey Expeditions

Odyssey Expeditions is a renowned exploration guild headquartered in the bustling capital city of Regalport. With an insatiable curiosity for the uncharted realms, they have become pioneers in the art of mapping and uncovering the secrets hidden within the enigmatic islands of Greentarn, Ferradura, Sort Mala, Riogair, and occasionally venturing into the dangerous territories of the Infestal Peninsula and Ceppozona Peninsula.   Led by the intrepid and capable Dame Brila Whiskermane, a daring female tabaxi, Odyssey Expeditions has gained a reputation as the premier source of discovery and adventure. Under Dame Brila's guidance, the guild has assembled a diverse group of skilled cartographers, experienced survivalists, and fearless explorers, each possessing a unique expertise that contributes to the guild's remarkable success.   The guild's mission extends beyond mere exploration; they are driven by a genuine desire to chart new horizons and forge connections with the myriad cultures and creatures they encounter. Odyssey Expeditions takes pride in its meticulous approach to mapping, ensuring that its charts are both accurate and invaluable to the scholarly community. Their comprehensive records often serve as a foundation for future expeditions and academic endeavors.

Of Storms and Fate

The only gods with a significant following in Regalport are Keranos and Avandra. There isn't must tension between the followings, instead many sailors in Regalport show faith towards both Prime Deities.   Father Thalric Munroe of the Shrine of Tempest Tides looks after faith towards the Storm Lord. In his youth, Father Thalric sailed for the Seadragons and loved his life as a privateer. However, while returning from a routine patrol of Dreadhold, his ship got caught in a freak tropical storm. His captain and crew did all they could to survive but it looked as though the ship was going down. Thalric held to the side of the ship, looking into the waters below, and prayed for Keranos to grant him divine insight. He opened his mind and saw the sea creatures swimming in a strange pattern. He had the captain steer the ship the same way and the whole crew made it out of the storm alive. From that day on Thalric dedicated his life to faith and bestowing insight into bright minds who come looking for guidance.   Sister Felicity Smoak grew up on the streets of Sharn. She learned from an early age that one must break free from the shackles of society. On her eighteenth birthday, Felicity snuck onto a boat headed to Regalport, looking to start anew. The crew eventually found her but allowed her to stay with them. One particular individual sensed the freedom that young Felicity sought and taught her the word of the Changebringer. When they docked in Regalport, Felicity worked to gather enough funds to establish a center of faith for Avandra. She and her faithful built the Sanctuary of Fortunate Fates to honor the Changebringer and welcome all those looking to begin their new journey.
