Tribes of Aurora

"Shields up, everybody! Let's hope it's a short one."

History

When Talaniel fell, many members of the region rejoiced in their newfound freedom, fleeing into what is now the kingdom of Varona and founding their own settlements and tribes. However, small groups of loyalists remained to worship the fallen esper, praying for her return and gifts of her power. These people stay on as acolytes, some as wandering individuals, but most settled into the three remaining tribes of Aurora.

Tathlikk

The Tathlikk tribe descend from the members of Talaniel's elite guards. As such, they are comprised of winter-hardy goliaths and white-skinned dragonborn warriors. When the other tribes wish to launch an assault on the College of Occlusion, the chieftain of the Tathlikk leads the assault. They have mastered the art of winter warfare, learned through techniques passed down through generations of protecting their master.

Orphorn

For the centuries that Talaniel reigned as absolute sovereign over Aurora, those who were not under her favor starved and froze to death in the wasteland. Those who were in favor needed some form of sustenance during the everlasting winter, which the Orphorn were tasked with providing. They were showered with gifts and shown great mercy from the esper, as they were solely responsible for raising hardy livestock and hounds which could withstand the cold to protect the palace and their ruler. They continue to raise animals even now, trading with the other tribes for weapons and other necessities.

Phefflenoggin

One of the original villages of the Wistful Wood before Talaniel's takeover, the mostly gnomish tribe of Phefflenoggin survived the esper's lording through simple friendship. Before Talaniel gained her powers, she befriending the people of Phefflenoggin, and after she ascended, they continued their friendship for generations. The villagers lived within the ice palace with their overlord, and were well taken care of and provided for by her. Over the years, due to their seclusion from the rest of the world, the gnomes became zealots, completely obsessed with Talaniel, and willing to do anything for her. The remaining members pore over stolen books, attempting to glean some information on how to resurrect their master, and gaining magical insight to combat while they do so.
