Time Units in Tara

The traditional Taran time measurement system is a semi-numeric scale of measuring time and assigning dates. The traditional system is used universally, even in cultures and locations that employ alternate measurements.
There are 60 seconds in 1 minute, 60 minutes in an hour, and generally 24 hours in a day. However, apart from numerologists, most Taran citizens do not pay much attention to these more specific divisions. Days are generally thought to be sunrise to sunset, and nights are thought to belong to a seperate period of time.

There are 12 months in a year, each being 30 days long. There are 360 days in each year. In addition to months, a seperate seasonal system is very commonly used, which focuses more on the climate and seasonal weather.

Seasonal Time Measurement

Seasonal time measurement is commonly used in true-air locations. While months are also taken into account, the seasonal system focuses more on the seasonal climate and weather. As such, the seasons are not fixedly attached to a particular day or month, and will come at slightly different times each year. For example, a very cold year may have an extremely short late summer, or even skip over it entirely.
The passing of one season into another is primarily based on the true-air temperature of the relevant area. Once the required temperature and conditions are met for 5 days in a row, the season will officially change. Various seasonal holidays and celebrations are based upon the passing of the seasons.
