Tarak Sigrus

Tarak is soft-spoken, patient, and helpful, content to live a quiet life tending the cloister’s garden plots. An avid botanist, he takes pride in growing herbs, flowers, and vegetables, always eager to share his herbalism knowledge or a useful remedy. His calm demeanor and kind words make him easy to trust, though he avoids personal questions or conversations that drift too far beyond plants and healing.

Plot Hook 1
Tarak frequently visits the sea caves on the island’s southern shore to harvest heart cap mushrooms from the resident myconids. These mushrooms are essential for brewing potions of healing. Recently, a fungus-covered octopus monster has taken up residence at the caves, preventing him from gathering the mushrooms. Concerned but unable to resolve the problem himself, Tarak seeks the help of capable adventurers.

  Plot Hook 2
The Lost Fortune: A rogue character (or any with connections to criminal circles) may come to Dragon’s Rest in search of a lost fortune, supposedly hidden on the island by a member of the Gilded Gallows. The story is only partially true. Tarak, a former poisoner for the guild, did betray them, but no treasure was ever involved.
The Truth: Tarak’s final assignment was to assassinate a traitor—his lover. The two tried to flee the guild together, but another assassin caught up with them. His lover was killed, and Tarak barely escaped with his life. The supposed “lost fortune” is merely a guild rumor twisted in the retelling.
Revealing the Past: If the rogue (or another character) confronts Tarak about the Gilded Gallows or presses for the truth, Tarak admits he abandoned the guild and has left the life of crime behind. He urges the rogue to consider doing the same, delivering his advice in a somber, reflective tone:
“A life chasing gold and shadows only ends in blood. I suggest you let go of the past before it claims you, as it nearly did me.”
