Skarn Blackmaw

Goblin King Skarn The Black Maw

Skarn the Blackmaw is the current Goblin King, ruling over the fractured clans of the southern Arandor with cold precision. Unlike the savage brutes before him, Skarn leads through strategy and restraint. His name comes from the ruin of his jaw, shattered in his youth and never fully healed. He rarely speaks, but when he does, his words cut deeper than any blade. Skarn is not the biggest goblin, but he is the most dangerous — calm, calculating, and unshakably in control. Under his rule, raids have become surgical, supply lines vanish without a trace, and rival clans kneel before they bleed. His rise has unified nearly a dozen clans, all feeding his growing power. No one knows exactly what he wants. That silence is what makes him terrifying.

Personal history

Skarn was not born to greatness. He clawed his way out of a slave pit beneath the Blisterhollow Warrens, one of a dozen runts bred for labor or meat. His jaw was shattered in his first year during a fight over a scrap of bone. He never spoke much after that. He listened instead. He watched.   By his seventh year, he had killed his first overseer. Not in a duel, but with a buried shard of pottery and a silence that made the other goblins nervous. When the warband that owned the warren collapsed, Skarn slipped into the wilds and vanished. Most assumed he died.   He did not die. He learned. Over the next decade, clans began disappearing across the southern Arandor— not wiped out, but absorbed. Goblins who once raided alone started fighting with coordination. Symbols began appearing, marked in ash and soot: a jagged black maw, painted across old stones and the foreheads of conquered chiefs.   Skarn resurfaced only after six clans had already bent the knee. No grand speeches. No threats. He walked into the strongest clan’s camp and dropped the head of their chieftain at the firepit. No one challenged him.   Since then, he has ruled with brutal patience. He rarely speaks, never boasts, and punishes betrayal with swift execution. Skarn is not building a horde. He is building something more — and whatever it is, it is not for show. It is for conquest.

He’s not loud. Not like most of his kind.   When we met, he didn’t posture. He didn’t threaten. He just waited. Made me speak first. Made me name my price before I even knew what I wanted.   I’ve crushed goblin skulls since I could hold an axe, but that one? He’s different. He doesn’t need numbers. He makes you feel like you’ve already lost the second you sit down.   I made a deal because it was smarter to owe him than to face him. That’s how he wins. Not by strength, but by leaving you no good choices.
