Stormwreck Session 2

General Summary

Igmusday, Velnir 17, 472 HE

Our epic journey began with Dezzy rolling yet another Nat 20 to start the day—clearly the dice gods are on her side. With the group set on their mission for heartcap mushrooms and a date with the mysterious ominous guardian creature, we ventured forth into the untamed wilderness of Stormwreck Isle.   There was an energy in the air, as if the island itself were watching, waiting to unveil its secrets. Before setting off, the party decided to forage for food, and oh, what a breakfast buffet it turned into. Rainbow found some wood sorrel (sad), Ioane uncovered a modest haul of six persimmons, and Dez hit the jackpot with 21 rose bush berries. Meanwhile, Zaruk, fueled by rage and momentarily forgetting he’s a vegetarian, hunted for an owlbear but stumbled upon a snarling badger instead. Displaying both raw power and, well, questionable dining etiquette, he snapped the badger’s neck, skinned it, and devoured it raw—covered in blood and looking quite pleased with himself. Gurgi joined the hunt, delivering a rabbit to Dez, who expertly skinned it (muscle memory, perhaps?) and shared the innards with Sunshine.   With full stomachs and slightly queasy onlookers, the party pressed on. The forest grew dense, and the air was thick with anticipation. Then it happened: a bone-chilling cry pierced the stillness, vibrating in everyone’s bones as a hulking owlbear emerged, gurgling menacingly. Dez attempted diplomacy, casting a spell to speak with the beast. Unfortunately, the owlbear was having none of it, and despite the party’s best efforts to de-escalate, it became clear that a fight was inevitable.   The battle was intense, but our heroes prevailed. The owlbear fell, and the party discovered a mysterious whistle around its neck. Naturally, Zaruk blew the whistle (as one does), only to be met with... nothing. Disappointed but respectful, Rainbow and Sunshine took a moment to bury the owlbear’s remains with dignity before the group moved on.   Their journey led them down a steep staircase toward the coast, where the ominous mouth of the myconid caves awaited. The temperature dropped as they entered, and the cavern revealed itself in breathtaking hues of bioluminescent jewel tones, a strange and eerie beauty. But there was little time to admire the scenery.   As Dez led the charge, a massive tentacle erupted from the water, smacking her before the spore servant octopus emerged. To make matters worse, two stirges swooped in, eager for a snack. The party sprang into action. Zaruk rolled his first Nat 20 (cheers all around!), and alongside Dez, they obliterated the octopus. Meanwhile, Rainbow and Sunshine teamed up to dispatch the stirges with grace and precision. Ioane, bless her soul, tried her best to help but wasn’t having much luck.   With the monsters vanquished, the group decided it was time for a well-earned break before delving deeper into the cave itself. The adventure is just beginning, and the island's secrets are waiting to be uncovered. What could possibly go wrong?
