The Emerald Coil first appears to be a slender golden snake, roughly 20 centimeters in length, with polished emerald eyes and delicate scale-work along its body. When worn, it wraps comfortably around the bearer’s forearm like a bracelet or armlet. Though it feels warm to the touch, the serpent remains motionless unless commanded, its jeweled eyes faintly glimmering when magic is near.

When activated, the golden serpent uncoils from the wearer’s arm and slithers into their hand, reshaping itself into a weapon of gleaming gold and green light and takes the form of a dagger. Its surface retains subtle serpentine details; scale-like ridges along the haft or grip, emerald-set eyes near the guard, and a narrow blade or spearhead shaped like a serpent’s fang.

Despite its beautiful appearance, the Emerald Coil is a dangerous weapon. Its magic carries a venomous deathly force that does not simply poison the body, but withers vitality itself. When the weapon strikes a perfect killing blow, the serpent’s emerald eyes flash, and black-green venom spills through the wound like shadowed bile.

As a bonus action, you can activate the Emerald Coil, causing it to uncoil and slither into your hand transforming into a dagger. It remains in this form until you use a bonus action to deactivate it, at which point it returns to its armlet form.

Attacks made with this weapon count as magical for the purpose of overcoming resistance and immunity to nonmagical attacks and damage.

On a critical hit with this weapon, the target takes an additional 4d8 necrotic damage. This additional necrotic damage is not doubled by the critical hit.
