Drakor

The Dragonmother Drakor , the Twin-Headed Dragon Goddess (a.k.a. Drakonis & Drakoth)

Drakor, the twin-headed dragon goddess of Drakoria, embodies a unique duality, with each head representing a different aspect of her nature. One head, known as Drakoris, symbolizes wisdom, humility, and the pursuit of knowledge. The other, known as Drakoth, embodies greed, ambition, and the drive for dominance. Together, they represent the balance of these opposing forces within the Drakorian culture and the natural order. She is the ultimate source of draconic power, revered by dragons and dragonborn alike. Her followers see her dual nature as essential for survival and prosperity, understanding that wisdom and ambition must work in harmony to achieve greatness.   As a divine being, Drakor is revered for her creation of the magical tree that sustains Drakoria's diverse biomes. This act of creation turned the once barren continent into a thriving land where various dragon races and other creatures could coexist. Drakor's influence ensures the continued prosperity and magical richness of Drakoria, making her a central figure in the continent's mythology and religious practices.   Drakor's followers are divided into different cults, each focusing on various aspects of her dual nature. The Cult of Drakoris venerates her benevolent side, promoting wisdom, unity, and the sharing of knowledge. In contrast, the Cult of Drakoth embraces the darker aspects, such as the accumulation of power, ambition, and dominance. There is also the Order of the Twin Flames, which seeks to balance the teachings of both heads, embodying the delicate equilibrium between knowledge and power that Drakor herself represents. Through her complex and multifaceted nature, Drakor guides the Drakorian people, ensuring that their society remains strong, balanced, and ever-evolving.

Sects of Drakor

The Order of Drakonis
The Order of Drakonis reveres Drakoris, the wise and humble head of Drakor. Followers of this sect are scholars, philosophers, and teachers who dedicate their lives to the pursuit of knowledge and enlightenment. They build grand libraries, universities, and archives, preserving the history of dragons and the wisdom of Drakor. Peace and learning are their guiding principles, and they believe that true strength lies in understanding and wisdom. The Order of Drakonis promotes harmony among dragonkin and mortals alike, seeing themselves as protectors of knowledge and seekers of deeper truths.   The Cult of Drakoth
The Cult of Drakoth venerates the greedy and ambitious head of Drakor, Drakoth. This sect is focused on acquiring wealth, power, and influence, believing that personal ambition drives progress. Followers of the Cult of Drakoth construct opulent temples adorned with gold, precious gems, and treasures, invoking Drakoth’s favor through elaborate rituals and sacrifices. They believe that by harnessing greed and ambition, they can rise to positions of dominance. The Cult is secretive and selective, often seeking out those who have the hunger for power, though their pursuit of it sometimes leads to conflict with other sects.   The Order of the Twin Flames
The Order of the Twin Flames seeks to maintain the delicate balance between Drakoris’s wisdom and Drakoth’s ambition. Followers of this sect believe that both knowledge and power, humility and ambition, are essential aspects of life. They strive to embody the full duality of Drakor, seeking personal growth through wisdom and the pursuit of influence and success. Temples of the Twin Flames are sanctuaries of both learning and ambition, where followers are taught to walk the fine line between acquiring power and using it wisely. The Order teaches that both qualities can coexist in balance, and mastering both is the key to greatness.

It grants the wearer the ability to tap into both sides of Drakor’s nature—Drakoris’s wisdom and foresight or Drakoth’s destructive ambition. Drakoth’s Claw

A colossal, obsidian claw that once belonged to Drakoth herself, it is said to have been gifted to the mightiest of dragon champions during The Emberstorm Conflict. However, it also amplifies the bearer’s greed and ambition, often leading them down a path of self-destruction.

The Tome of Duality

An ancient book said to have been written by the first high priest of Drakor, this tome contains secret teachings of balancing Drakoris’s wisdom with Drakoth’s ambition. It is considered one of the most sacred texts of the dragonkin and is believed to hold the secrets of controlling the great balance that Drakor embodies. Only the most devout followers of Drakor are allowed to study its pages.

Divine Symbols & Sigils

The two heads intertwine, creating a balance between knowledge and power. This symbol is commonly engraved on dragon armor and temples dedicated to Drakor.   The Dragon’s Eye
A single, piercing dragon eye with two different pupils: one pupil representing a radiant, all-seeing eye of wisdom (Drakoris), while the other represents a serpent's slit for ambition and greed (Drakoth). This sigil is often worn as a pendant by followers who seek to embody both the pursuit of knowledge and personal gain.   The Flame of Balance
A flame with two distinct colors—one side burning blue and the other red—symbolizing the balance between knowledge and destruction. It is said to have been used in ceremonial rites, with the blue flame invoking Drakoris’s wisdom and the red flame Drakoth’s ambition. This flame is a common symbol in the altars of Drakor’s temples.   The Scale of the Dragon
A scale representing balance, with one side weighed down by a hoard of gold and treasure (Drakoth’s greed) and the other side lifted by scrolls and ancient knowledge (Drakoris’s wisdom). The scale represents the delicate balance followers of Drakor must navigate between amassing power and seeking wisdom.   The Heartwood Crest
A tree with roots digging deep into the earth, symbolizing wisdom and humility, while its branches stretch high into the sky, adorned with gold leaves symbolizing ambition and desire. This sigil is often used by dragonborn rulers as a symbol of their connection to Drakor and their responsibility to uphold the balance she represents.

Tenets of Faith

Drakor’s followers are divided into three sects.   The Order of Drakonis seeks knowledge and enlightenment, building grand libraries and universities. They revere Drakor as a goddess of wisdom and humility, promoting peace and learning.
  1. Seek Knowledge: Always strive to learn and understand the world.
  2. Foster Humility: Use knowledge for the betterment of all, not for personal gain.
  3. Promote Peace: Guide others towards enlightenment and harmony.
The Cult of Drakoth, on the other hand, worships the dragon goddess’s greedy and arrogant side. They erect opulent temples adorned with gold and precious gems, conducting rituals that invoke Drakoth’s favor in acquiring wealth and power.
  • Acquire Wealth: Amass treasures and power without hesitation.
  • Assert Dominance: Use wealth and power to control and influence others.
  • Indulge Desires: Satisfy personal ambitions and cravings without restraint.
The Order of the Twin Flames, This order teaches that both knowledge and power, humility and ambition, are essential parts of existence. Followers are encouraged to seek wisdom and personal growth while also striving for success and influence, understanding that both aspects can coexist in balance.
  1. Balance Above All
  2. Followers of Drakor are taught to embrace the balance between wisdom and ambition. Just as Drakoris and Drakoth coexist within Drakor, her followers must learn to balance their own desires for knowledge with their drive for power. Extremes in either direction lead to ruin.
  3. Seek Knowledge, but Temper It with Caution
  4. Drakoris’s teachings emphasize the pursuit of knowledge and wisdom. Her followers are encouraged to constantly learn and grow, but they must temper their wisdom with humility, understanding that knowledge without control can be dangerous.
  5. Ambition is the Path to Greatness, but Beware of Greed
  6. Drakoth’s influence teaches that ambition and the desire to grow are natural and necessary for success. However, unchecked greed leads to downfall. Followers must strive for greatness, but remain vigilant of the dangers of overreaching.
  7. Power Must Be Earned, Not Stolen
  8. True power, like the strength of dragons, comes from dedication and mastery. Followers are encouraged to achieve power through hard work and discipline rather than through shortcuts or deceit. Stealing power, be it through betrayal or dark magic, is seen as dishonorable.
  9. Protect the Heartwood, for It Sustains All
  10. The Heartwood Tree, the symbol of Drakor’s essence, must be protected at all costs. The tree’s magic sustains Drakoria, and any threat to it is considered an attack on Drakor herself. Followers are bound to protect the land and its balance as fiercely as they protect their own lives.
  11. Conflict Breeds Strength, but Wisdom Brings Victory
  12. While conflict is inevitable and can breed strength, true victory lies in knowing when to fight and when to avoid battle. Drakor’s followers must learn that strength in battle is important, but wisdom in choosing one’s battles is paramount.
  13. Honor the Dragon’s Legacy
  14. Dragons are Drakor’s first children and carry her divine essence. Followers must respect and protect the legacy of dragons, whether through preserving their history, defending their lairs, or aiding them in times of need. Disrespecting dragons or attempting to exploit them is seen as heresy.

Mental characteristics

Personal history

Drakor emerged from the primordial chaos at the dawn of time, born of the raw, untamed energies that shaped the universe. Her dual nature was evident from the moment of her creation, embodying the eternal struggle between knowledge and greed, wisdom and ambition. As the progenitor of all dragons, Drakor instilled these dual qualities into her offspring, crafting a race capable of embodying both the highest virtues and the darkest vices. Her two heads, Drakoris and Drakoth, symbolize these opposing yet complementary forces. Drakoris, the head of wisdom, seeks knowledge, balance, and humility, while Drakoth, the head of ambition, represents greed, dominance, and an insatiable hunger for power. Together, they guide dragons in their eternal quest for both personal and collective greatness.   Drakor is revered not only for her power but for the duality she represents. In her, dragons and dragonborn see the embodiment of their potential—to rise as wise rulers or fall to the depths of avarice. Through her guidance, they navigate the delicate balance between these two extremes, seeking to master themselves as they master the world around them.   Though Drakor is distant and seldom involves herself directly in mortal affairs, her influence is felt across Drakoria, where her followers—dragons, dragonborn, and even some humanoids—look to her for guidance in times of struggle, ambition, and spiritual growth. Her mythology is central to the culture of the dragonkin, who strive to live up to her impossible duality, walking the line between enlightenment and power.

Accomplishments & Achievements

Drakor’s existence is a constant battle between her two natures. Legends speak of times when the wise head, Drakoris, led the dragons and other beings toward enlightenment and harmony, fostering eras of peace and cooperation across the lands. Under Drakoris’s influence, the dragons became protectors and guides for mortal races, sharing their vast knowledge and ushering in periods of growth and stability.   Conversely, the greedy head, Drakoth, has led her followers into devastating wars fueled by an insatiable hunger for power, wealth, and dominion. Under Drakoth’s command, dragons hoarded vast treasures, enslaved weaker creatures, and clashed in violent territorial disputes, leaving swathes of destruction in their wake.   Drakor’s most significant act was the creation of the Heartwood Tree, a colossal, magical tree that lies at the center of Drakoria, imbued with her dual essence. The Heartwood Tree sustains the balance of magic, nature, and the lives of those who inhabit Drakoria. Its roots, deep within the earth, symbolize the wisdom, humility, and stability of Drakoris, while its towering branches, reaching toward the heavens, represent Drakoth’s ambition for growth, wealth, and expansion.   The Heartwood Tree is central to the stability of Drakoria’s diverse biomes, from verdant forests and mountains to barren deserts and magical landscapes. Its magic keeps these lands thriving, maintaining the balance between destruction and creation, chaos and order—much like Drakor herself.   Drakor’s influence, whether guiding the world toward enlightenment or plunging it into conflict, continues to shape Drakoria’s landscape and its people, making her both feared and revered throughout the continent.

Failures & Embarrassments

Despite Drakor’s immense power and influence, her duality has often been her greatest source of conflict, leading to some of her most profound failures. The constant tension between her two heads—Drakoris and Drakoth—has created moments where the goddess has lost control, allowing chaos and destruction to ravage the world unchecked.   One of Drakor’s most infamous failures occurred during The Emberstorm Conflict, where the greed of Drakoth overcame Drakoris’s wisdom. In her lust for power, Drakoth urged her dragon followers to wage war against one another and neighboring kingdoms, seeking to amass control over the Heartwood Tree’s magical energies. This war resulted in the near destruction of several Drakorian regions and the decimation of many dragon clans. The devastation caused by the conflict was so great that even Drakoris could not restore balance for centuries, leaving Drakoria scarred.   Another source of shame for Drakor is her inability to prevent the corruption of some of her dragon progeny. Certain dragons, consumed by Drakoth’s influence, have succumbed to madness and turned against their own kin. These Fallen Dragons, as they are called, represent Drakor’s greatest failure—dragons whose hunger for power and dominion led to their downfall and, in many cases, their eventual destruction. Drakoris’s efforts to save them were ultimately in vain, leaving these corrupted dragons as a dark mark on her legacy.   Moreover, Drakor has been unable to fully reconcile her dual nature, causing internal conflict that reverberates through her followers. The struggle between wisdom and ambition, between preservation and destruction, continues to ripple through the dragon races, leading to moments of discord and unrest within Drakoria.   These failures serve as reminders of the peril inherent in Drakor’s duality and the delicate balance her followers must navigate in their own lives. Though powerful, Drakor’s influence is not without its flaws, making her both a revered and tragic figure in the eyes of her worshippers.
