Lysander Brighthelm
Lysander Brighthelm is a remarkably organized Human and the current quartermaster for the armed forces of Kalaman.
Description
Lysander is an aged man with deep lines on his forehead from a lifetime of furrowing his brow. He is always seen wearing the purple cloak befitting his station - quartermaster for the City of Kalaman, which he often furnishes with a stylish hat. Lysander places a premium on organization and attention to detail - elite qualities of any quartermaster. Lysander's office is also in pristine condition, with a place for everything and everything in its place.Personality
Lysander is a soft spoken man when speaking plainly, but quickly can raise the volume and intensity of his voice when discussing matters of lost equipment, or equipment left in disrepair due to lack of attention and care. Capable of great intimidation, Lysander reserves his emotions until they are required to get a point across to anyone he is conversing with, the sign of an intelligent and wise man with experience in dealing with others.Abilities
Lysander's organizational skills and attention to detail are unmatched in the city of Kalaman, perhaps in the entire continent of Ansalon. Able to recall specific information and notice the smallest of details, Lysander's aptitude as a quartermaster is beyond question. Despite being attacked by the Red Dragon Army on multiple fronts, Lysander has been able to keep the Kalaman army supplied, fed, and wanting for nothing while on deployment.Relationships
Friends
Very few consider Lysander a friend in the city, though he has a stong professional relationship with Fëandil, the current commander of the Greenshield Regiment. Many speculate this is due to the fact that Feandil never checks anything out from the quartermaster, and often takes great care in his equipment and friends.Enemies
While not necessarily an enemy, many soldiers in the Kalaman guard loathe having to discuss anything with Lysander, as it often leads in them getting reprimanded for lack of attention to detail or care for their equipment. However, Lysander poses an immense threat to the Red Dragon Army, as a quartermaster capable of maintaining a well fed and equipped defense force has made Lysander one of the greatest factors in Kalaman's recent success in routing the Red Dragon Army.History
Lysander has been the quartermaster for Kalaman since the Greenshield Regiment arrived at the ports of the city with the Voglerite refugees. According to gossip, Lysander has been the quartermaster of Kalaman for quite some time, and has the respect of Marshal Nestra Vendri, who has regarded Lysander as a steward of his profession. Most notably, his biggest disagreement was with Dimitri Borislav, the late commander of the Greenshield Regiment. Dimitri was known for having two spears, an uncommon yet effective strategy when fighting on the front lines of battle. However, as a Pachovan, Dimitri was raised to treat each piece of equipment he had as reusable, so if the blades were dull, dirty, or otherwise in disrepair, they could be repurposed into other items that could still be useful. Lysander, however, believed that the purpose of an item is designated specifically, and one must take great care to make sure that item can perform that purpose at all times, which led to many heated arguments between him and the pachovan war hero. Dimitri also struggled with being disarmed, and often lost control of his spears and would consistently requisition more from Lysander, leading to more conflict. At the pinnacle of disagreement, Lysander awarded Dimitri with an medal, designating him at the Most Irresponsible Waste of Resources in the Kalaman army. Lysander being an officer of Kalaman, Dimitri was obligated to both accept and wear the award, and being a good soldier, did so until his untimely death. When Dimitri was killed at Wheelwatch Outpost, Lysander was the last one to say words at his funeral ceremony, giving Dimitri two pristine Adamantine spears to be buried with. When Marshal Nestra Vendri raised an eyebrow at this act, Lysander had a simple response.I figure now he can't lose them. After these words, Lysander removed the previous award he had granted Dimitri, replacing it with the Kalaman Medal for Heroism.
