Oroni

Summary

The Oroni people are a strain of mankind who make their home in the southern reaches of Sethir. They are a strange people, and are far more comfortable in isolation than the rest of the children of man.

Physical Description

They are stocky in build, being well suited to the rough terrain of their homes, and have beige/grey-white skin. They are descended from the Tiorathan settlers who interbred with the native tribes of Demi-Astrals, who were likely of Malruun blood.

Psychological Description

The typical Oron is stoic and short spoken. The Oroni are independent and prefer to rely on themselves, but some do live in relatively dense populations to form 'cities', which are little more than large towns.

Range of Habitation

Oron'Hye, West Tierdun

Cultural Basics

The Oroni are a stoic people, well accustomed to their freezing homelands. They do however unite often enough for one common cause central to their culture, Cold Forging. The Oroni mastered this art long before the J'a-goroan of Tierdun in the east, and attribute this to their Godcaster Olrad. In the past the Oroni had strong familial ties, living in tightly knit clans. However a shift in this culture occurred during the early second age after many of Oron'Hye's largest settlements were sacked, splitting families and leaving only a handful of lonely survivors. This change became solidified with the ascension of their lord Olrad to the role Godcaster of Independence.

History

The Oroni were one of the last of the future Sethiri states to form it's own identity, and saw the least rebel activity during the early years of the Sethiri conflict. It wasn't until the arrival of Olrad that the Oroni people began to develop a national pride independent from the Tiorathan identity. Initially Olrad fostered a sense of togetherness amongst his people, however after his defeat and the butchering of his people during the sacking of Foran, Oron'Hye's capital, he became cold and stoic, embracing the ideals of rigid independence.   For much of the war the forces of Oron'Hye formed small bands of guerilla fighters that performed hit and run attacks against the Tiorathan loyalist forces. Olrad himself was known to assault Tiorathan strongholds alone, and after his massacre of the Tiorathan forces holding Foran in an event that came to be known as The Demon's Feast, the Tiorathan's began to call him by the moniker 'The Demon Lord of Oron'Hye'.
