Star Pulse Language in Tales of the void | World Anvil

Star Pulse

Star Pulse is the nickname of a system used by martian stealth ship and undercover agent. The very powerful laser array emit a insanely tight and focused laser beam that is capable of reaching deep inside or outside of the solar system. It's not unheard of to receive transmission from more than a thousand Astronomical Unit. While the laser emitter is a rather big machine, some miniaturised version do exist, however the power concentrated on such a small dot make it impractical in atmospheric condition and very prone to burn or pierce anything along the beam.
The actual language and code used is not clearly understood by people outside of the martian Covert operation command but is believe to be high frequency hexadecimal transmission, the color transmited being one of 16 possible color. However the frequency is so high that to human onloocker it looks like a very very bright pulsating white star.

Such Human interception is very rare due to the tightness of the beam but did occur a few time, providing most of what we know about it. The reason why it is believe to be a martian technology is due to backtracing the ray to a reflector on deimos.
Doctor Ezeinfield a Selene citizen is the first one to have recorded such transmission and consecutively tried to break the code. While the actual encoding by color impulse was quickly found out, so far all tentative to match colors to one of the hexadecimal value possible have resulted on a bunch of letter of apparently random distribution. The evident follow up being that the transmission is somehow encrypted. While this is probably the case, so far all encryption analysis tool even the more modern one have yet to produce text that would mean anything in any earth born language. Investigation are still ongoing...

Writing System

Hexadecimal encoded letter.
The frequency is estimated to be around the 150GHz mark and the actual reach is unknown.
