Dark Matter

Dark matter is a hypothetical form of matter that is thought to account for approximately 85% of the matter in the universe, and about a quarter of its total energy density. The majority of dark matter is thought to be non-baryonic in nature, possibly being composed of some as-yet undiscovered subatomic particles.   Dark matter, especially non-baryonic dark matter, is known for its difficulty to be sensed, much less interacted with. The only reason most civilizations know of its existence is due to the effects on gravity it has. Dark Energy is believed to be closely related, or quite possible the same thing.

History & Usage

Industrial Use

Advanced civilizations such as the Dovah and CAST use dark matter as an energy source, as well as in offensive and defensive systems. Much of this is made possible with Metreon Particles and other advanced technologies.

Dark Life

The Dhvani are currently the only known sapient dark-matter life form known to the Orion Quadrant. As they exist, so too is there likely other dark-matter life forms, living out their existence oblivious to the baryonic universe. The Dhvani shed some light on dark matter, in that in comes in many different types. They seem to describe numerous musical analogies to it, though its unclear how accurate this is.
