Wellspring
Wellsprings are extraordinary phenomena forged from a unique substance known as Kyrite. Kyrite possesses inherent antimagical properties in its raw form, making it a substance of great interest to those who study and harness magic. However, through a meticulous combination of magical sequences and alchemical processes, pure or concentrated Kyrite can be transformed into Wellsprings.
Wellsprings serve as potent sources of magical power, acting as conduits that draw upon the surrounding atmosphere's mana. They function as unparalleled foci for spellcasters, enabling access to spells that surpass the limitations of conventional magic. While typical spellcasters are bound by the constraints of spells up to the 9th circle, Wellsprings empower those attuned to them to wield magic of even greater magnitude.
The creation of Wellsprings is attributed to the ingenious mind of Visilia Ilnacia, a visionary inventor and master of arcane arts. With her profound understanding of Kyrite and its latent potential, she discovered the intricate process of infusing the substance with specific magical sequences and alchemical recipes, allowing it to evolve into a Wellspring. Visilia's groundbreaking invention revolutionized the world of magic, offering spellcasters unprecedented access to immense magical energies.
The existence of Wellsprings has had a profound impact on the balance of power in Iria. Factions and individuals with the knowledge of Wellspring creation seek to control and monopolize these extraordinary sources of magic. Their influence extends beyond personal empowerment, often shaping the dynamics of kingdoms, conflicts, and quests for ultimate power.
The Wellspring Wars
A collection of conflicts between the Dawnspire and Silent Dark factions following the creation of the Wellsprings, raging across the Somerset Plains and scarring the land beyond use, and led to the deaths of inummerable people, both within the factions and beyond. These wars only ceased due to the unanticipated arrival of the Forbidden Ones and the begining of what is now known as The Second Calamity.
