Welcome to the Tales of Iria!

Congratulations on making it this far adventurer! While I look forward to the epic tales of adventure and intrigue that we will tell together, there are a few things you will need to do first to prepare yourself for the most optimal experience in my games. The guide below will help you get started with everything you will need!

Game and Payment

StartPlaying

As of June 6, 2023 we have begun using StartPlaying for our game transactions. You will need to sign up for an account if you do not already have one HERE. Payment for each session will be made automatically once your game is scheduled to begin. A link to join your campaign will be provided via Discord once you have signed up!

TaleSpire

To give players the most immersive experience possible, TaleSpire is used for visualizing various locations and battle maps within the world. It is available through Steam for a one-time purchase and is Windows and Mac supported. You can get it HERE.
Additionally, you can find a tutorial for the various controls and capabilities of this awesome VTT both built-in TaleSpire itself, or in THIS helpful written guide.

HeroForge

Next up is making your mini! HeroForge will allow you to import your mini into TaleSpire where you will be able to use it throughout the campaign! Once you finish making your mini, you will need to buy the 3D DIGITAL option.

PLEASE COMPLETE YOUR TOKEN AT LEAST 48 HOURS IN ADVANCE OF YOUR FIRST SESSION TO ALLOW FOR DELIVERY AND UPLOADING!

You will receive an email from HeroForge letting you know when your download is complete. Once you do, please follow THIS guide for importing your mini to TaleSpire!

Roll20

Roll20 is a VTT platform we will be using to help coordinate your Tales of Iria experience! While Talespire will be used for the incredible interactive battlemaps you will get to experience throughout this campaign, Roll20 is the primary platform for character sheets, musical ambiance, dice rolls, combat tracking, and so much more. While there are other platforms out there that provide similar VTT services, to ensure smooth gameplay from one player to the next, all Tales of Iria players will need to utilize Roll20 for maintaining their character and dice rolls.

World Anvil

Forget the name of that NPC you met last session? Hear an interesting rumor, but can't figure out why it's important? Maybe you're just lost and need a map? Look no further! You've already made it to the Tales of Iria World Anvil where a plethora of information related to the world and your place in it resides! Cancelation Policy

This policy ensures a seamless and engaging experience for everyone involved in our adventures. While I understand that life can be unpredictable and sometimes cancellations are unavoidable, the following outlines the procedures and expectations for such instances.

1. Advance Notice:
If you anticipate being absent, please inform me at least as soon as possible in writing over Discord in advance of our scheduled session. You can do this through Discord in this channel, or through StartPlayingGames.
2. Cancellation Window:
Cancellations made before the 24-hour mark before the session in advance will not result in any charges. Your seat for that session will be marked as available.
3. Late Cancellations:
Cancellations made less than 24 hours before our session WILL lead to automatic charges once the game starts. If there's a genuine emergency or reason for the late cancellation, please let me know, and I'll be as understanding as possible.
4. No-Shows:
Absence without prior notice will result in automatic charges. Players with recurrent no-shows may need to discuss their continued participation in the campaign with me.

Character Creation

With such an expansive world, a few tweaks need to be made here and there to help enable you to create the hero the world needs! Below are a list of homebrewed tweaks and changes to classes, feats, spells, and more for you to use as you create your character.

Additionally, to expand the possibilities of character creation, I have made some adjustments to what is possible with point buy. Rather than explain those changes in detail, I'll instead provide a link below that features a point buy calculator, and explain what optional settings you can use there.

A character can buy up to 18 as a maximum for their ability score. Points above 15 follow an increasing trend, which is defaulted in the calculator.
A character can also decrease their scores below 8 to gain bonus points. The minimum a character's score can be lowered to is 4. As a note, a character with an Intelligence lower than 6 is incapable of reading or writing.
