The Second Calamity
The inception of the Second Calamity marked a time of unprecedented devastation and destruction, a culmination of relentless conflicts and the unfolding of chaotic forces in the world of Iria. It originated amidst the tumultuous zenith of the Third Wellspring War, with a series of aberrant magical events quickly escalating into a pandemonium that threatened to consume the realms.
The descent into chaos was characterized by the emergence of The Forbidden Ones, the harbinger deities of chaos, destruction, darkness, and time. The ethereal presence of these entities tainted the lands with their sinister aura, converting thriving landscapes into barren wastelands and unleashing legions of corrupted monsters, undead, and other abominations upon the world. The surviving cities, already battered by the ravages of time and war, found themselves at the mercy of these malevolent forces.
As despair loomed over Minthos, with its land scarred and its people on the brink of annihilation, an unexpected beacon of hope emerged in the form of Tysphone, the elusive leader of The Silent Dark. In a move unforeseen by allies and foes alike, she extended a hand of alliance to the Dawnspire, forging a desperate, eleventh-hour coalition aimed at halting the relentless tide of darkness and corruption engulfing their world.
The turning point in this cataclysmic confrontation was marked by the audacious actions of Shalinthal Desdemonia, a member of the Dawnspire, who managed to clandestinely acquire two Wellsprings from the dwindling reserves. Armed with the amplified powers granted by the Wellsprings, she valiantly battled The Forbidden Ones, resulting in the imprisonment of two, the obliteration of one, and the apparent retreat of the last into the unknown realms beyond the Divine Gate.
The aftermath of the Second Calamity left Iria in a state of wounded resilience, its people united in shared pain and newfound hope, its lands yearning for renewal and rebirth, and its history forever marked by the shadows of this monumental confrontation between the forces of creation and destruction.
