Thun Daruhl

"May the forges of Thun Daruhl roar once more, and may the Ax of Kings find its rightful hand. Our kingdom's legacy is not lost; it merely awaits its time to rise again, like the mountains themselves." -Dwarven Scholar

History

The Founding of Thun Daruhl

Thun Daruhl's history is as ancient as the stone of the Seleben Peaks themselves. The dwarves who first settled these rugged mountains were driven by a deep reverence for craftsmanship and a profound connection to the earth. They built their cities within the very heart of the mountains, carving out vast halls and chambers where the clang of hammers on anvils echoed through the stone. The forges of Thun Daruhl became legendary, producing weapons, armor, and artifacts of unparalleled quality and power.

The Golden Age

As the centuries passed, Thun Daruhl's influence grew, and its wealth and power expanded. The kingdom reached its zenith during what came to be known as the Golden Age, a time of unmatched prosperity and cultural achievement. The dwarven kings who ruled during this era were wise and just, and their subjects flourished under their rule. The Ax of Kings, a weapon said to be forged by the gods themselves, became the symbol of Thun Daruhl's divine right to rule, and its wielder was revered as the chosen ruler of the dwarven people.

Durin Stonehammer

The Golden Era of Thun Daruhl dawned with the ascension of King Durin Stonehammer to the throne. Under his reign, the kingdom experienced unprecedented prosperity and cultural flourishing. The forges of Thun Daruhl burned brighter than ever before, producing weapons, armor, and artifacts that were sought after across the realms. Trade flourished, and the wealth of the kingdom grew with each passing year. Durin was not only a skilled ruler but also a visionary leader. He oversaw the construction of grand architectural wonders, such as the Great Halls of Khazaduum and the Skybridges of Ironpeak, which became symbols of dwarven craftsmanship and ingenuity. Durin's court was renowned for its patronage of the arts and sciences, attracting scholars, artisans, and craftsmen from far and wide.   The Ax of Kings, a symbol of the dwarven monarchy's divine right to rule, was wielded by Durin with wisdom and strength. It was during his reign that the Ax reached the height of its power, becoming a beacon of hope and inspiration for the dwarven people. The Golden Era was a time of unity and prosperity for Thun Daruhl, a testament to the strength and resilience of the dwarven spirit.

The Wars with Nallorian

But all golden ages must come to an end, and Thun Daruhl's was no exception. The rise of the malevolent overlord Nallorian cast a shadow over the kingdom, leading to a series of devastating wars that would change Thun Daruhl forever. Nallorian's forces swept through the mountains, laying waste to everything in their path. The dwarven kingdoms fought bravely, but in the end, they could not withstand the tide of darkness that Nallorian unleashed. The last dwarven king fell in battle, and the Ax of Kings was lost, its fate a mystery that would haunt the dwarven people for generations to come.

The Kingdom in Ruins

With the fall of the last king, Thun Daruhl descended into chaos. The kingdom fractured, with rival clans and factions vying for power. The once-great cities of Thun Daruhl fell into ruin, their forges silent and their halls empty. Expeditions were launched to recover the Ax of Kings, but none were successful. The dwarven dream of reclaiming their lost glory seemed to fade with each passing year, and Thun Daruhl became little more than a ghost of its former self.

The Legacy of Thun Daruhl

Today, Thun Daruhl is a land of mystery and danger. Its cities lie in ruins, their once-great halls now home to creatures of darkness and shadow. The dwarves who still dwell in the mountains are a proud and resilient people, but they are a far cry from the mighty kingdom that once ruled over the Seleben Peaks. The Ax of Kings remains lost, its whereabouts unknown, but the dwarven dream of reclaiming it lives on. Somewhere, deep within the heart of the mountains, the spirit of Thun Daruhl still lingers, waiting for the day when its people will rise again.
